MzN International Modern Slavery Statement & Policy

Financial Year January 2024 – December 2024

Introduction
MzN International takes a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and enforces measures to ensure modern slavery and human trafficking do not take place in our business. We are committed to complying with the United Kingdom’s Modern Slavery Act 2015 and to contribute to global efforts to combat these crimes. This statement outlines our approach to addressing modern slavery and human trafficking for the financial year January 2024 – December 2024.

Global Commitment
MzN operates as a social enterprise dedicated to fostering positive social and environmental impact worldwide. Our mission is to support non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and social impact organizations around the world, with a deep commitment to sustainable development and social justice. We align our operations with principles promoting human rights, labor standards, environmental sustainability, and anti-corruption measures.

Our Organisational Structure
MzN is incorporated in Germany as a company and operates under an “anywhere work” policy, allowing our team members to work from anywhere in the world while fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment. With over 20 years of experience in the development sector, we support NGOs and Organisations worldwide. We prioritize engagement with partners who share our commitment to human rights and compliance with ethical standards.

Policies and Approach
To embed and promote the principles under the Modern Slavery Act 2015 we have aligned to best practice international ethical standards. We are committed to strict ethical guidelines, including the Red Cross Code of Conduct and other international standards. We refuse to work with organisations that undermine these standards and values. The key policies that relate to mitigating the risks of modern slavery in our business include:

Labour standards: MzN respects the labour rights of workers and encourages all Agents throughout the organisation to actively enable employees to have a thorough understanding of their rights as stated in local labour codes.
HR Policies and Employment Contract: During the recruitment and hiring process, we adhere to a set of HR policies that encompass pre-employment screenings aimed at preventing slavery within our workforce.
Prompt Payment Policy: Our policy ensures that suppliers receive payment within 30 days of submitting a valid invoice, and we do not retroactively alter payment terms.
Whistleblowing Policy: We actively encourage staff and stakeholders to voice concerns.

Effectiveness Measurement
We take the responsibility of monitoring the effectiveness of our policies seriously. We continuously monitor the effectiveness of our policies and compliance measures through internal reviews and assessments. We maintain a whistleblowing policy that encourages the reporting of concerns related to modern slavery and human trafficking, ensuring a safe and confidential mechanism for raising issues.
