SUMMARY:Big Values and No Money. Is Purpose Enough When the Operating Model Is Broken?
DESCRIPTION:This session addresses a reality many NGOs now recognise: strong values\, committed teams and clear missions are no longer enough when the operating and financial model is breaking beneath them. Since 2023\, the sector has shifted faster than most organisations were prepared for. Donor behaviour has changed\, private capital is reshaping the impact landscape\, and traditional structures are proving too slow\, too siloed and too fragile. \nWe will examine this shift directly. We will look at NGOs that adapted early and are now thriving\, and at those that tried to change but stalled or failed. We will speak openly about what we have seen across more than 300 partner organisations: where culture carried transformation\, where it blocked it and what leaders did when the model no longer matched the mission. \nThe central question sits at the heart of this session: is purpose enough when the business model no longer works? And if not\, how do we change without compromising the very values that brought us into this work? \nWhat viewers can expect \n\nA clear view of how the sector has changed since 2023 and why legacy models no longer hold.\nCase-based evidence of successful and failed transformation efforts from NGOs we have worked with directly.\nA practical discussion on aligning the whole organisation behind change while protecting the mission.\nGuidance on adapting operating and financial models without diluting identity or purpose.\nExamples of how values can guide\, rather than slow\, organisational redesign.\nA forward-looking view of how NGOs can deliver more impact\, with more integrity\, under newer and more demanding conditions.
