TestThe recent devastations in Nepal have shown us how crucial it is to have solid and effective humanitarian response processes in place. Emergencies and natural disasters can happen at any given time, and the better our emergency processes are, the greater the number of lives that will be saved. At MzN International, we believe in the power of having solid foundations in international humanitarian response standards, as well as management and leadership skills that lead to effective coordination and implementation. Through our training sessions, we are actively trying to combat existing inefficiencies in the realm of emergency responses. Take, for example, our recent Humanitarian Skills Development Programme in Bangladesh.

May 2015 marked the revival of the Context – Humanitarian Skills Development Programme in Bangladesh. Four years since the programme first commenced in 2011, MzN International reinvigorated the programme with over 70 participants taking part in the Core Skills Development Programme and in the Management and Leadership Development Programme.

Context is an initiative of the Start Network, and falls under Start Build’s Talent. In Bangladesh, MzN International delivered the Context Programme to humanitarian response personnel, as part of a larger initiative to improve the quality of response in the country.

The Context Humanitarian Skills Development Programme offers a dynamic and comprehensive approach to capacity-building in humanitarian response. This programme develops the capacity of humanitarian response professionals at the national and regional level based on the Core Humanitarian Competencies Framework. The programme promotes the universal humanitarian standards and best practices, tailored to the local context of Bangladesh.

Through the programme, participants are equipped with the skills they need to deliver disaster response in a safe, efficient, professional manner that benefits the communities they work in.
Following the workshop in May, participants will embark on a learning journey that will last 6 to 9 months and will include self-study, coaching and a second workshop this coming September
